WHAT: A very unique opportunity! We are currently reviewing new CAN Advisory Board nominations and applications to join The CAN Advisory Board. The Advisory Board provides CAN with critical perspectives on needed or proposed legislation that affects the day-to-day residential/ownership rights in common interest communities.
WHO: This year we have vacancies under the following categories:
1. Volunteer Board Member – Homeowners Association (Seat 3)
2. Volunteer Board Member – Condominium Association (Seat 5)
3. Licensed Community Association Manager (Seat 2)
4. Licensed Community Association Manager (Seat 4)
5. Coalition Leader (Seat 1)
6. Coalition Leader (Seat 2)
7. CAN Certified Business Partner (Seat 1)
8. CAN Certified Business Partner (Seat 2)
9. At Large (Seat 1)
Geographic residential location of Board Members is also considered since CAN represents a cross-section of our entire statewide community. This strengthens CAN’s strategic efforts. It’s definitely impactful when we introduce a Senator or Representative to a voting constituent in their own district.
Board members should have experience in a variety of areas, including but not limited to, advocacy, community association living, community association management, insurance, emergency preparedness, and construction. CAN Advisory Board Applicants must have demonstrated a history of positive community association participation and leadership and must currently be actively involved.
Applicants are required to have a clear understanding that CAN is a nonprofit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to protecting those living and serving in shared ownership communities and operates for educational and advocacy purposes. Perks of serving on the Board include being the first to receive our legislative wrap up and invitations to our legislative town hall receptions throughout the state.
WHEN: The new Board will be announced by July 15, 2016.
WHERE: Participation requirements include attendance by telephone conference or in person at quarterly CAN Advisory Board meetings to discuss proposed, current, and potentially harmful legislation.
